The concept of BFS came out as early as 2000 and initially started out as a college band that was influenced by early 90’s grunge and punk style music. From initially doing covers of bands like Nirvana, Green Day, Ugly Kid Joe, Doors and the likes we started to focus on our own music and composed a few songs. In 2003, we had to go separate ways for a few years due to commitments with education and work. This long gap away from the band and the experiences in a different country coupled with the hardships of coping with life away from home had its effect on our music in terms of the lyrics and its feel.

When we finally got back together in late 2005, we put our music together and it just felt complete! Also during the time away and constantly listening to new stuff, I guess we just developed an alternative approach to our music and you could say that this was the official formation of The BottleFlower Seeds. A lot of people ask us what the ‘name’ or ‘BFS” means and some assume it has something to do with poppy seeds, but, to break it up quite simply, the seed means a voice (idea) bottled-up in the midst of other people and its difficult to express your idea coz they consider you insignificant. If only they just stopped for a moment to listen to the voice, it could be something they were waiting to hear.
